Creating New Tabs For your Blogger Page

I have been wanting to address a question in my head.

Well as most of you know I am using dial up as my Internet connection. I know it is ancient technology, but it is all I can get in my area and surely I am not the only person left on the planet with dial up (Gawd I hope not).

The more pictures you have on your main page the longer it takes for dial up to load and sometimes it wont at all. Now yes I know it is my problem and why should you change your place to accommodate one person. By NO means is that my intention here. Everyone has the right to have their page as they see fit, heck it IS your page. I'm not complaining, not really. I visit your pages no matter how difficult because I find yall to be fabulous people. Lets just say my curiosity has been peaked and puzzlement has taken over.

I was just talking to a fellow blogger about this, that is why it is so fresh on my brain.

I know a few of the folks I follow have added new tabs to their page, so I guess this wouldn't apply to you.
This also only applies to folks who are using Blogger as their blog source.

My question is...Do you know how easy it is to add a tab?
If not I will tell you. (If you know this part, skip to the bottom)

Step 1) Go to "New Post"
Step 2) Go to "Edit Pages"
Step 3) Click on "New Page" or "Create Page"
Step 4) Name your new page, like... Awards, Buttons, Poems or Recipes. Whatever you feel like.
Step 5) Hit "Publish"

Voila! You have now created a new page. It takes all of 3 minutes at the most. High speed folks, probably less than 3 minutes! Easy Peesy!!
You don't have to fill it in all in one shot, a little here and a little there. And you can even change the name of each tab later on. It lets you have up to 10 tabs!
.
.
.
.
Now for those of you who did know and still have opted to not go with it.

I was wondering if you could tell me... Why?
I am very curious and interested in what the answers are going to be.

It's not that I am trying to influence you (Okay maybe I am), I was just wondering why everybody isn't on board to all the features blogger offers.

If you are worried about messing up your existing template, like ones specially made. Then just copy and paste it into a word document or click on the "Download Full Template" before you start.

I have only had a computer for two years! If I can do it, I know yall can!

For those of you are bored by this or already know it:
Please feel free to view what I have written in the About Me tab above.

Heather, I did not know about that! Thank you. I think I'll work on putting tabs on my page later today. :)

I am not on dial-up (and didnt realize it still existed), but I prefer blogs that are not so busy with a million badges and awards and all that on it. I have some on mine, but maybe not an excessive amount?
Can you hit stop when a page is loading and have the text appear and not the pics? Sometimes my crappy laptop lags and as the page comes up, I hit Stop on the menu bar as soon as the words appear, and if there are pics I think I want to see, I'll reload, but if a pic is taking forever-I just skip seeing it.

I have to build up to that , maybe next week. I barely survived getting my text set. Thank you Heather, Have you ever seen an advertisement on anything about Hughes Net. It is supposed to be available for improvement or in place of dial up.?

Typepad doesn't let me do much. I keep tinkering with trying to get my site a little more streamlined, but oh the time it takes!

Oh Heather, you forget that you are young and intelligent and adventurous. Some of us are old and easily confused....and we have a catalog of past adventures that have ended up in disaster.

But -- I have indeed added a new page. Not sure yet how to get stuff into it....but I do have a page.

I'm sorry -- my last post has a bunch of pictures in it. When...if you start to load it, go to the bathroom, take a shower, get dressed, and brush your hair -- and then it will be loaded.

I have been playing with the pages on my blog also Heather, it's a good option and as you said it is easy to do, now if I could come up with some smart pages like you have, seriously going to combine some stuff and make it easier to load hopefully.

Check out my new background picture I added today.

Let's see I have cable internet and some folks have so much "stuff" on their blogs it still takes forever to load and I just don't care to wait. Also I am not really interested in all your awards, buttons, internet pets etc. Pictures I like, links I like.

I just added a tab for the heck of it. What you see on my "front" page is all there is to see. Or all I want anyone to see. And there is probably too much stuff at that.

So I made a tab for 3 of my favorite recipes - don't know how long I will leave it there - I see no point to it - at least not for me.

Thank you Heather. I have heard of it but have never really look at how to do it, but now I know just how simple it is.

i have always tried to keep my page as simple as possible because, although I am not on dial-up, I am soooo impatient waiting for pages to load... some people have EVERYTHING on there!

Menopausal...I find it to be fun and creative and cleans up my page just the way I like it.

Tink...Thanks for saying that! I am glad I could help someone know about this feature. You just made writing this post very worth while.

Kaylen...LOL! Yes ancient technology is still around. I don't choose to have it, but instead I am forced. I hate it, but have to have it. Grr.
I so agree! When I go to someones page I want to read their post!
I never knew about the "stop", thanks so much for telling me! That is soo cool!!

Lucy...I am glad I could help! Oh yes we have called hughes net and for us it will cost about 600 just to get it set up and started with a two year contract. If I had that kind of money then I would do it! LOL!

Sprite's Keeper...I really like your page. It doesn't take hardly any time at all to load.

Jerry...Hahahaha!! You are too sweet! I have had my share of mishaps too. LOL! You crack me up!

Jimmy...I agree! Great feature and soo easy. I really like how your page is shaping up and so far very easy to load. Love the new background of Cindy on the horse.

Ocean Girl...Again, so glad someone got some benifit from this post! Glad I could help!

E.D...Your page is easy to load. Dial up really tests my patience everyday!

Well it's all greek to me since I'm on wordpress. I hope my page is not too much hassle. I do know what you are talking though, some of them are even a pain with wifi cable. UGH!

You've done a great job with your page Heather.

Spot said... [Reply to comment]

Um. Because I haven't had time to play with/fix up my blog lately? Yeah, that basically covers it all. But at least now, when I do get the time, I'll know how to do it! You rock Heather. Thanks for the tutorial!

I hope my page doesn't take too long for you to load. I plan to make a separate page for awards and I like how you've done the About Me section. I haven't taken the time to tinker with it yet, though. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the information! All this time I didn't realize I could do that. Now I'll have something to do for the next few days!
