Toy Shopping

I went to Jennifer's today. I was just going to drop off the money I owed her from the trip to the Zoo. She wouldn't take it, so I used it to get lunch for all of us. I was going to go Big Lots for more bookshelves and noticed that Jennifer needed some things. So we loaded up the kids and went shopping. Thank goodness for the Big Lots card or it would have never happened.

While Jen was looking at window treatments, I gave the kids an assignment. They were to find toys that were:

1..outdoor friendly
2..no small parts
3..no batteries required
4..no guns or swords
5..under $10
and are staying at Nana's (my) house!

I was thinking this would not be easy! I was right at first, I was presented with sword and shield, toy shot gun, new army men (with very tiny accessories), and of course the inevitable noise makers. Too my surprise they really came up with some good toys...like outdoor sports (bat and ball, Frisbee, football) and of course Trucks! I must say "I was very impressed"!

It was a great day!

Waiting for hubby to do something

The living room has been in stale mate waiting for the hubby to do some work under and around the windows. This has been a four month wait and not even a hint of wanting to get it done for me. I haven't been able to continue with the painting or decorating.

Well this morning I woke up and I have had enough of waiting! If he wont do it, I will just have to figure out how to do it myself. I think I have been plenty patient, four months is long enough to get up the gusto to finish it.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the hubby! I just get frustrated with him from time to time, mostly for his procrastination. Especially since he has been home under foot for the most part of a month and still no sign of wanting to do anything around the house.

Now to give the man some praise, he does do the chores I have asked of him. Like...taking the trash to the dumpster on Sundays! Lol!

I know now and should have known then, that waiting for hubby to do something was just wasting time. When we still lived at the old place, he promised me a nice porch, that was 18 years ago! We moved last year and still no porch! LOL!!!

The Road Home

I just got through watching a foreign movie called "The Road Home". This movie has got to be one of the most beautiful movies I have watched in a long time.

It is a story of a young man having to go back home to deal with his father's funeral. He then tells of the wonderful love story of his parents.

This movie is very emotional! I was glued to it in anticipation of that pivotal moment when things go the way they are supposed to go in all love stories. I didn't get exactly what I was waiting for, but I was not disappointed either. It left me thinking "This is the kind of love story all women wish they could have".

I highly recommend this movie if you don't mind sub-titles and want to see a good romance. I give it five stars!

Small progress in the house.

I have had the hubby home all week due to the rainy weather.

I have only managed to get one project done this week.

I tore out one side of my closet, then put in a new floor and 3 bookshelves.

I spent the rest of the evening filling all those bookshelves.

That was 2 days ago and I still have some muscles hurting.

I have been trying to get my bedroom cleaned out of storage boxes and junk, so I can lay down new floor and fix the ceiling.

I am still hoping to get more of the house done before Thanksgiving.

Most of my family is coming to my house this year.

I volunteered us for it last year, thinking I would be done with the renovations.

Money, man power and the weather have held back a lot of the progress.

If I am lucky I will not lose my gusto.
