My Knight in White Saves the Day!

From finances being tight, the last time I did serious grocery shopping was Dec, 12. I did go one other time, but it was just for the barest of necessities.

Hubbies truck being broke down (since Xmas day) and leaving me with no wheels during the day, (which is when I would normally do grocery shopping) has seriously put a hurt on our supplies.

Two days ago I had to have hubby pick up some bread on his way home or he wasn't going to have any lunches, till I could get to the store, which was looking like that wouldn't be till Saturday. He did it, but I knew he loathed it. When he is on his way home, that is his only goal. He hates to stop, for any reason.

I have verbally complained about the dwindling supplies and the ever growing list of things we need, just to go with the things we still have left. I need my truck back!

Hubbies lunch is usually..a banana, 2 peanut butter sandwiches, a pie wedge of strudel and two snacks. Today all he got was one snack and the sandwiches. I was getting concerned about the supply of peanut butter, it might last another day!

I put in my Alert box today that I was almost out of COFFEE. So, you can imagine my anxiety over the grocery problem.

I had made up my mind to try not to complain about it, cause there wasn't much to be done about it. I know your thinking, "why not go after he gets home?" I thought about it, but when hubby isn't getting home till around 8pm and this tiny town rolls up at nine, it's just not going to happen.

Today, I was sitting here going through y'alls posts and thinking I'm getting hungry, wonder what I can have.

Cereal..no milk
Pancakes..again, no milk or butter
Sandwich..can't touch the bread, gotta save that for his lunch.
Cheese quesadilla..no cheese

You get the idea! I couldn't figure out anything, that wouldn't mess up plans for a meal (Suppers) or didn't required something that I was out of.

So...What did I have for lunch?
A can of tuna! LOL!

Hubby called at five and lets me know he is on his way, he asks "Whats for supper?"
Me..Left overs from last night.
He wasn't too impressed with last nights supper and although he didn't actually make a sound, I heard the groan.
Me..well I don't want to waste it, I wont be able to go shopping till Saturday.

My knight in White (uniform) says, well since I'll be getting home early..Do you want to go grocery shopping tonight?

I said..Yes!!!!, but my mind was saying..Duh!!

Finally, butter, milk and cheese! Funny how those cows control me!

Bread, butter, milk, cheese and eggs. Those basically what we need in the fridge too.

I hate being out of groceries. We're doing good so far this week - no eating out! I've made dinner every night so far, though I don't know what we are going to do this weekend. It's supposed to get mighty cold, and I will definately not want to get out.

That how it was when John got home form the hospital after his stem cell transplant. he hasn't worked in several weeks, so he was broke, I was on vacation to take care of him, so no daily tips for me. We made it though! I cooked or prepared more meals that week than I had in a year!

Oh, you are tooo funny! Well, I'll bet your cupboards and fridge are all nice and cleaned out about now! You were *forced* into it, but you DID it!!

I feel the same way (more often than I care to mention) but its more because I'm looking for something f-a-s-t....: "What's the quickest, easiest, hands-free-so-I-can-keep-typing food I can eat??"

DUH. It usually winds up being a hunk of cheese!

Why is it that when we run out of groceries, we run out of EVERYTHING we need to concoct a decent meal? So glad you got your dairy back. =)

I could live on milk and espresso brewed coffee (must have both though, or no dice).
