Once There Was Four

Once there was four, but now there are only three and was soon to be just two.

I have (good) neighbors to the left of me and (bad) neighbors to the right and their dogs reflect their owners. The good neighbors have outdoor cats and this is one of their litters.

This little sweet heart of a girl captured my heart right off. She was curious and playful, not shy at all.

She was just getting to where she had mastered the art of climbing a tree and loved to come over and visit, till momma meowed for her to come home.

She loved to play peek-a-boo with just about anything that she thought was hiding her.

Then came along the menace to society. Nikki is her name and she loves to terrorize the neighborhood. Seriously folks, I can't even get to the mailbox if she is anywhere around. Well today at noon, she crossed the line from just a terror to a kitten killer.
I tried to save her, but she died in my arms.
The Animal Control was called.
An hour later, I got the chance to rescue one of the black kittens. A few seconds more and he would have joined his sister.
Animal Control finally arrived, talked to me and I clearly told him which dog but he only took her accomplice.

This was her accomplice! A stray/drop-off that decided to become buds with Nikki two weeks ago. AND the only one to pay the price of jail time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Needless to say I am outrage over the whole situation!
I would rant but I'm even too upset to do that.
Screw Animal Control. If that dog is threatening YOU, it's time to call the cops. And the local newspaper. And the local TV news outlets. And everybody else you can think of, until that dog is put down.
I so agree with the above comment. That dog is a danger and a menace. If you are outraged then make some noise, honey!
Once that dog starts killing he won't stop!
Heather - Did they ever come take the second dog? If it were me, I would have called the police after a dog tried to bite me. In fact, we did because one of our neighbors' dogs bit me while I was in our own yard going to the mailbox.
As for the sweet kittens - are YOU getting one? I want the tabby!! Tom & I LOVE gray & black tabbys and had three cats at one time.
My God, Heather....this is awful! You can see how MEAN these dogs are...I can't believe you've got to deal with this CRAP!
Now I'M outraged!
I'm not a cat person but no animal deserves to be hurt or especially killed by another dog. Especially a pet of someone. This is ridiculous.
Sorry about the pretty kittens...they are so cute. Shame about animal control.
@rockygrace Thanks for the support. I did call the cops and they are the ones that sent animal control. We live in a odd area, right on county lines. The one area where no one whats to claim.
@Grace Because we live in such an odd area, I'm still trying to find the right person/place to make all that noise.
I agree with ya there! Once they get that thrill, they won't stop.
@Dee Andrews They never did. The Sherriff told me that if it had happened in my yard and I was able to detain him in my yard, then he would have been able to do something. BUT since the dog was back on his own property, it was pretty much out of his hands.
NO, we are not taking in any more cats. We have two already.
@kathryn Aww thanks sweetie! That is just the right word for it..CRAP!
@kendrasue So true! Especially a dog they have been warned over and over again about keeping it in their yard.
@SuziCate I must admit I am very disappointed in our animal control. Thanks for the support.
Wow, Heather, this is so sad. And yes, dangerous. I'm so sorry you went thru this.
I had a kitty just like her growing up. She had blue eyes. This is just awful. They are so cute. I hate they can't pick up the right dog, if a person gets hurt, I bet they would! That's the really sad part of it all. :-(
@Maureen@IslandRoar Thanks, I'm trying to find a solution.
@Angelia Sims That is exactly right, if it had been a person or child, they would have been all over it!
