Grandkids vs the camera

I was just sitting here recalling the day. The glorious day I spent with my grandsons and daughter Jennifer.

AND once again I have no pics to show for it. I'm shaking my head at myself. I will grab my camera for just about anything. Heck, I ran out the door this morning in my stocking feet just to try to get a pic of a peacock strutting down the road. So why don't I hound the kids with the flashing light of my camera?

Well I have come to the conclusion that...

1) getting a pic of the oldest without a funny, goofy face is nearly impossible. LOL!

2) Getting a pic of the youngest is very hard to do, his attention gets pulled away quicker than I can click. LOL!

3) It is so much more fun to be there at the moment and for every "Nana" moment that arises, than to have my face hiding behind the lens.

All very sound reasons.

But dang it they are growing up soooo fast and Nana needs pics!!

So...boys you better watch out cause next time I see you, you are going to get blinded by the light!

This and That...

I'm sitting here thinking..Is it possible that I am losing interest in the process of blogging. Naw..not possible! I just don't ever seem to have the time that is necessary to dedicate to it as I should.

Ever since I picked up my crochet hook last September, there is nothing I want to do more. I have always been a crocheter but maybe only one blanket a year, if that. I have a blanket I was worked on for 3 winters. Since September I have done..6 queen sized blankets and have currently started number 7. I don't know what spurred this obsession other than once I did A blanket for one person, bam I had a list of people to do blankets for. Like enough to keep me busy for the rest of the year! Then I got into exploring crochet websites for patterns and I got carried away. Soo many pretty patterns and new stitches to try!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got my new camera today and am dying to get outside and play with it. If only the stupid batteries would hurry up and charge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I washed both the truck and the car by hand. The car was beyond filthy and The hubby's running mates at work was giving him a hard time about it. Fingering in "Wash Me". The biggest culprit is his friend Grumpy. He goes back to work in the clean car and

Grumpy says...I did a good job BUT I should have used a towel to dry it.
I said "Dang, I just can't make that man happy!"
Hubby says.."They don't call him Grumpy for nothing!"
LMAO!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hubby gets home Thursday night knowing he is going to be off for a three day weekend, so he hangs up his bib'alls and says aloud..see ya Monday morning.
I said..What, your not going to get dressed till Monday?
Hubby..Dang toot'in!
This afternoon he gets dressed. I asked him why.
Hubby..I figured I better get outside and mow so you would think badly of me.
Me..You nutcase! I was perfectly resigned to the fact that you was going to do nothing all weekend. (stupid girl)
The bib'alls got hung back up!
Me...No, No, No...I didn't mean it! Go ahead and go outside!
Too late. Dang it, will I ever learn?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The new kittens are such a joy to watch. I love watching them learn new things. Like getting their little legs to stand up, they sway at the attempt and I can't help but to laugh. Yesterday one had learned how to get out of the box. She is my little explorer, she has already learned how to roam all over the place and tumble down the stairs. Her other sisters are trying to follow her lead. He brothers on the other hand..well lets just say they are slower to try. They seem to be saying...why should we get out of the box? It's nice in here. LOL!!

Yall have a nice day!

Hot weather and new camera...

I'm sure most of you know already that Texas is in the worst drought in 44 years and is being consumed by an explosion of wildfires. Let me just say...dang it's hot! The temps are now up into the nineties with heavy humidity, but still no rain. I can't even open the door without breaking out a sweat from the extreme heat.

Here at my house we haven't had any measurable rain since Sept. I do envy those who are getting rain, but yet I hear some are getting way too much rain with violent storms and even some tornado's thrown in. I watch Facebook status's and here lately I have had major concern for the safety of my friends and have a wave of relief when I see that those folks have posted again and are okay. Thank goodness.

I also learnt this morning that one of those wildfires is very close to my sister-in-law. The news was posting pics of places and hubby was calling out their names with a gasp. I think the hardest blow was the swimming hole that he played in many a summers while staying with his sister. We are both hopeful that they can get those fires under control. A little rain couldn't hurt either!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have wild blackberries all over the place around my house. I have been trying to go picking for the last few days but I can't stay out there for too long. BUT I will keep trying cause well....they are FREE! I already have 5 bags in the freezer, would have had 7 but we ate some already! LOL! I just might try my hand at making a pie, that requires flour...right? Hmmm, I'd better go get some.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soo remember the camera I soo wanted to the point of obsession. Well thanks to some donations and a sale, I was able to upgrade. No I didn't get THE camera of my dreams but I did manage to get...

Kodak® EasyShare Z981 14.0-Megapixel Digital Camera, with 26x optical zoom.

It should be arriving today!! I am super excited and want to thank all who donated to help me out with the camera fund. Yall are AWESOME!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay well I'd better get out of this chair and get out there and pick some berries before the heat melts them away. Yall have a great day!
A Little bit of Something...
Okay so I know it has been awhile, so I wanted to at least say something. "Something" there I said it! LOL! Naw, just kidding!
After my last post, I am truly blessed with such good and thoughful friends, yall are awesome!
It has still been hard on the family, but most especially on my brother. Which in turn makes it hard on us to see him suffering so. But we will get past it and resume some sort of normalcy(is that a word?).
Now on to other things.
.
.
I have come to realise that my cats have to be the stupidest cats ever. (Just a slight warning this might be a tad too much information.) Now I have always had a cat, most of all those times I have always had an indoor cat or two or three. Indoor cats require a litter box. I have gone through all sorts of sizes of litter boxes trying to find just the right size for certain cats. Usually this is not that much of a big deal. BUT I currently have the biggest size I have ever had and these stupid cats still manage to poop on the edge. Aggrevates me to no end, how hard can it be to actually get "it" into the box?! It's the largest box ever!! Lets not even go to the subject of actually covering it up. Okay lets do, for just a little...Whiskers is the worst at covering! He will scratch at the wall, the rug and even sometimes the shelf right next to the box, but never will he touch his paw to the litter for the art of covering. All I can do is shake my head and do cleanup. Ohh and lets not forget all the litter spillage they manage to do. Well actually that is Peach's doing, she can really get messy with her art of covering, almost to an obsession.
Well...thanks to my hubby's sister we now have an extremely large litter box, complete with a hood. The cats have to actually climb (not step) into the box. This sucker is soo big, I had to do some rearranging in the bathroom just to get it to fit. We will see if this sovles any of "our" problems. Today is its first day and so far things are looking up. I caught Whiskers actually covering it up!
.
.
Yesterday we went to hubby's mommas house for his birthday, I never get to bake him a cake cause his momma does. No point in having two cakes for just us two to eat. Goodness we are big enough already! Anyway... I was out in the back yard and saw something I wanted to get a photo of. I went back inside to my purse to get my camera. I pulled it out of my purse and wow, it was hot! I felt down in my purse and all was cool in there but the camera was HOT. I quickly realised it was the battery compartment that was hot and opened it up and let the batteries slide into my hand. Wowza! Hot potato, hot potato! They were melted to gether and as hot as fire. I rushed them out the door, I couldn't think what to do with them, not knowing if they were going to explode or not.
After the camera cooled down, I tried putting some new batteries in it and it wouldn't come on, I did that four times before I gave up. I was soo distraught at the prospect that it was broken and now I am without a camera. As soon as we got back home, I hit the internet like a mad woman on a mission to find a decent camera in my price range. With my price range being so little, it was more difficult than it would be for most. After a good while..for some reason (lets call it denial), I tried my camera again. Walla! It works! Weird and freaky! I am soooooo glad it works, but concerned as to why that happened in the first place.
.
.
I finally finished blanket #4 of this winter season and halfway finished with a baby blanket to be donated to Ft Hood's massive baby shower for soldiers or soldier's wives who are expecting. Bf is donating 3 baby hats and bootie sets.
.
.
That is all I can think of for right now. Yall have a great day!!
The Hubs
Lets talk about the hubby.
I think I have created a monster. As you all know Angelia gave me a camera, well in turn I gave the hubby the camera I was having issues with. He was much appreciative even though it really isn't worth the 60 bucks I paid for it, but it will do in a pinch.
Now...he comes home and says look at the pics I got today. Mind you they aren't that great cause the color was always bad on that camera, but I thought it was interesting that I was seeing a pattern in his pics.
Ya think he has a liking for bridges? LOL!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I bought a cheesecake when I did the grocery shopping. I cut it into 8 slices. I presented it to hubby after supper Friday evening. He looked up at me and said I should have given that to him first. I laughed and walked away to get my own slice. I come back and he says "There is something wrong with it" I say "what" He says "My slice is too small, it's almost all gone!" Hahaha!

I again present him with dessert last night. He again tells me that it should have been first. I told him that is why it is called dessert, you know after a meal. He says "Da-sert should be Da-first, not Da-last!" LMAO!!!

Stuff Around the House (with new camera)

Pics from my new camera:
Anyone know what kind of bugs these are?

Can ya see the bite holes on my fan?

My little springtime centerpiece.

I threw this pic in just to show you the comparision from old camera to new camera. This is the old one.

New one. Stuff on top of my pantry system. Elephants, green glass and metal tray.

I love my cookie jar! I bought it on Ebay after searching for months.

More green glass and the prettiest TV tray top I have ever seen.

More green glass and Mahogany salad bowl set from Haiti.

Probably the best pic I have ever taken of Whiskers.

What to call this post...BLAH

Ugh today, NO this week has been strange and out of whack.
I feel off balance, chaotic, irritated and aggravated. Things don't seem to be going smoothly. I am doing one thing and then jump to the next without finishing the first thing. My office is a mess and I got the blues over it. I have been trying so hard to come up with solutions, only to fail from the lack of know how and money. Goodness I hate the word money. It controls everything I do and can't do.

Where was I..oh yeah..

Yesterday I took my camera outside and was trying to figure out how to get the best quality pic out of it. There seems to be no hope for this cheap little camera. With the help of South Dakota Cowgirl, I got some great advice and leads on what to look for when I save up enough money. Crap there is that word again!

Back when I went to Seguin to help my parents (what..three weeks ago), my dad gave me a computer desk that he had rescued from the trash. He does things like that and if there isn't anything wrong with it, he will give to us kids or sell it. Anyway, there was nothing wrong with this desk, I marvel at peoples ability to throw away perfectly good items. Well..I tried the desk out for size for a week and we didn't get along to well, so I decided to put it on Craig's list. Why I even bother with it, I don't know! I had three people inquire about it, but don't have the means to come and get it. Seriously, they want me to deliver it! Again, I don't have the MONEY to use up my gas!

I do think the title of this post should be MONEY! It just keeps popping up. Evil little big word. GRRRR!!

I haven't posted a whole lot this week, because I really can't get my mind to focus. Same thing with getting caught up on my reading list. It just keeps getting longer and longer everyday and I have been unable to get my mind to get into the groove.

I'm thinking it is time to piss off the neighbors and slap on and crank up some get your heart pumping and body moving jams. Naw maybe next week...

That awful women's curse needs to go away first. I will be soooooooo glad when my body finally realizes we are tooo old for this junk. Bring on the full blown menopause!! I am so ready! I already have the hot flashes and night sweats, just waiting (not so patiently) for blessed day this will be over!

Well there ya have it folks that appears to be all I have, cause my brain just shut off..I got nothing...

Blah, blah, blah and oh another blah!

MY Processes of Blogging-Undecided

I was going to commit myself to "Spread the Word, Thursday" I had every intention of doing this and I did for three weeks (I think). I write my post the night before, so Wednesday evening I am sitting here and it never crosses my mind that it will post Thursday. Just a little dense that way. About halfway through my Thursday's, I will remember, proceed to feel bad, shoot myself a bad word and quickly think about going in and adding it to my post . Five minutes later, I am struggling to remember "What was it I was going to do?" If it doesn't come to me within a minute (which it doesn't), my brain moves on to something else.

I have stuff floating around in my brain all the time, either from reading other blogs, from something on the tv or happenings around me. At first when I started this blog, I would write down all these random things and most of the time I wouldn't use them anyways. So I eventually stopped doing that.

Your probably wondering "Just what is this post about?"
My answer...ummm..I'm not sure really! Maybe it is just about MY processes of blogging. Boring, I know.

I wanted to start a weekly post of random pics of things around the house, but the camera's batteries are dead and I only have one battery left, it needs three.

I thought about showing yall the wallpaper I look at everyday, I thought it was a neat idea. Till I thought "How legal is that?", Can't you get in trouble for putting someone elses work on your site, without their permission?" So, alas I won't be showing you it, until I get confirmation that it is not breaking some kind of rule/law. Not sure how to get the permission, since I can't even remember where I got it.

Then there was the fleeting idea of writing about the weather, but seriously it's pretty much cold everywhere. If not, please don't tell me! I already have huge envy for those with central heat, right now! I don't need to add to the envy, people with natural heat.

I also thought about Stephanie's post about "Getting More Blog Readers" (if you haven't had the luxury of reading her blog, treat yourself on my dime, I'll still be here when you get back).

I thought it was an interesting assignment, but I don't think my dial-up would be able to handle a huge readership like hers. So, I shot that idea down. It's a miracle I manage as many blogs as I do. BTW..did ya notice I'm up to 20 followers. That just happened today, thank you Suzicate! She's another one you should take the time to visit.

Well, since I have put you through the post about indecision of what to post, I will leave you with this:

One of the presents I got from MIL, at Christmas. Check out those eyes! Yup, that's me!

Old modern technology

This time 2 years ago, my 3 brothers were the only ones in this family that had moved into the modern technology.
I'm talking about cell phones, digital cameras and a computer. Not exactly up to date technology, more like old modern technology!

Me...
April of last year, I moved up in the world when I was given my first used computer (got a brand new one, February of this year) and in August I got my first used digital camera (got a new one in June of this year). August of this year I got my first cell phone, ever.

Hubby...
He got a new cell phone and a brand new tv.

Sister...
She had a cell phone (for emergencies only), but this year her and her hubby worked hard to get their very first used computer. Way to go sis! Still no digital camera or printer, but I'm sure they will be working on that next.

Parents...
Mom's sister had given her a computer, but she never got it hooked up, by time she did try, it had been ruined by toddler twins pouring their milk inside it.
Parents moved this year and dad it the jackpot. My dad is a scavenger, you throw something away and he is likely to find it and try to fix it. He found a computer, it did have its problems but worked for games. My brother came down and tried to fix it and he went and got mom a brand new computer. My other brother has given mom a cell phone on his plan.

Dad managed to find another computer and again my brother came down to fix it for him. Dad didn't get a brand new computer, but after my brother got through with it, it was close to brand new. At thanksgiving, my dad was showing everyone that he got a digital camera. He was thrilled over that camera. Today he calls me from his very first cell phone! Mom had bought him a reconditioned phone, but after trying to set it up and having problems. The company sent dad a brand new camera phone!
He exclaims...In the last six months I have jumped into modern technology!

Now my whole family (other than one sister) is just a few steps away from the newer technology.

Now that I have written this out and reviewed it, the only things we should need for Christmas is clothes!

What a year for my family! We all get gold stars! Right Mom?
