One of these Days!

One of these days I am going to be down one less cat! The monster Whiskers has been at it again and OMG I am so friggin MAD!

Apparently the birds are out and about trying to feed up for the winter or something, cause there are a crap load in my yard and driving Whiskers to run from window to window. Like here he is now, he just jumped up on the desk to chase ...what? A bird, a lizard, the tree branch is moving in the wind...who knows!

Thank goodness I don't need my mouse at this point, cause his butt is on it.

I'm sure your wondering why am I so mad at him...
Well, see that window there, note that it no longer has a screen on it.

That's right this stupid cat seems to think that if he body slams the screen in pursuit of a bird than he will catch it. Instead the bird gets away and he is hanging from a very old screen that rips from its seams and comes crashing down.

Chasing birds is fine but when it tends to destroy my house, then it is war!

There are about two dozen doves out there under the tree.

It is going to be a long day. I wonder what else he is going to destroy. Gawd I hope it's not my curtains! He wont live if it is!

What Luxury!

A little something I forgot to put in yesterdays post.

As you know I have been trying to clean out my room and get it ready for new flooring. Well I rented a storage unit and have made a few trips to unload already. At the entrance to the facility a pile of junk has been forming, you can't help but look at it. Okay I can't help from looking at it. Yes it does seem like hubby's syndrome has wearing off power.

Anyhow, I saw this two tier cat tower sitting there. I craned my neck to get a better look, surprisingly enough it was in pretty good shape. Yup, you guessed it, I brought it home. I did take the time to clean it with carpet cleaner and sprayed it down with a smell good spray.

Any one who knows cats know that they can at times be unpredictable, so I was crossing my fingers that they would like it. Within ten minutes their noses were all over it in wonder of this monstrous thing. Five minutes later Whiskers is sharpening his claws on the post. Yeah success!

They were in need of a newer tower, the one I got at the thrift store four years ago currently looks like this:

Oh Yeah! Even cats can step up in this world. Were styling now!

Whiskers now uses this spot as a sleeping area and a tactical advantage in his never ending war with Peaches.

Life is good!

Bad morning for me and the Pets.

I read so many blog posts last night, I didn't even get to do one for myself.
I still had eleven left to read after 5 hours of reading, needless to say I gave up and went to bed.

Woke up in a fowl mood from Taco's constant sneezing for me to let him out. Another morning of throwing back the covers and grumbling. Yes I am still peeved at him!

The kicker to my morning was to find my little hibiscus plant that I keep on the window sill above the sink, all over the floor! Potting soil everywhere! The monster Whiskers was apperently after something in the window and knocked all that was up there down into the sink or on the floor.

Still waiting for the coffee to get done, so maybe I can find the funnier side to it all!

Well just incase you hadn't noticed...I have a new Blogger page called Nana's Nature , it is a place where I have been posting one photo everyday. Do me a favor and check it out!

AND now for some coffee and to tackle the 20 blog post on my Reader's list.

Stuff Around the House (with new camera)

Pics from my new camera:
Anyone know what kind of bugs these are?

Can ya see the bite holes on my fan?

My little springtime centerpiece.

I threw this pic in just to show you the comparision from old camera to new camera. This is the old one.

New one. Stuff on top of my pantry system. Elephants, green glass and metal tray.

I love my cookie jar! I bought it on Ebay after searching for months.

More green glass and the prettiest TV tray top I have ever seen.

More green glass and Mahogany salad bowl set from Haiti.

Probably the best pic I have ever taken of Whiskers.

Hillbilly Alert!!

Hubby calls me to let me know he is on his way home. He tells me to go get his steak cause he has "For Real" gotten over sixty hours this week. He says he wants a prime rib. I tell him I don't even know what a prime rib looks like, I'm going to have to look it up.

He says..while your looking that up, look up craigslist. Go to boats and type in free in the search bar, pull up the fifth one.

Just him talking computer talk blew me away!
I asked why and he said just do it and you'll see. I'm like..O.kay. He hangs up and I rush to the computer. I find it and pull it up. Here is what I see:

I call him back immediately!
OMG you are such a hillbilly!
He cracks up laughing and says "You say that like its a bad thing! Email them and see if they still have it."

He has always wanted to have a house boat. He wants to live on one permanently. I've always known this and even got him a t-shirt with a hillbilly house boat on it. This is a whole new level I was not prepared for.

While waiting for a reply from the owner..
I was getting his supper and I asked "Where are you going to put it?"
Him..In the front yard
Me..Even IF I was to let you, it wouldn't fit. Your going to have to call around and find a boat storage place.
Him..Fine I'll dock it at the lake.
Me..I'm not so sure they will let you set up camp permanently.
(You have to know I have been laughing my fool head off, ever since I laid eyes on that pic!)

We bounced ideas around and around and he still came back to putting it here in the yard.
Me..I don't want to look out my front door and have my whole scenery be nothing but boat! LOL!
He..(cracks up) I told him (him being his friend at work, Two Speed) I would never get away with bringing it home.
Me..I don't think the landlord would be too thrilled about it either.
Him..Oooo, call him and find out!!
Me..I don't need to call him, cause I wont go for it and I rule! LOL!
(We haven't laughed this hard in at least a week)

I finally told him that IF it was still available AND he could find a place to put it, (that wont break us) then he could get it.

His brain went into overload!
He called people and got some real good suggestions. He was soo excited! According to him he had it all planned out.

I asked what about the animals (especially the cats), he said "No problem". (I butted in and yelled "Whiskers how would ya like to live on a boat?")
Hubby say he could be a catfish and the dogs could be mud puppies!
LMAO!!

Finally the guy emails us back and wouldn't ya know it, it was picked up this morning. Hubby gets all bummed out, saying "A day late, always a day late".

Me on the other hand..dodged a huge bullet!

Later he is like..Did ya print it yet? Not yet.
Did ya print it yet?
Did ya print it yet?
Did ya print it yet?

Geezzzzz, you want it right now!
Him..Well I don't want ya to forget it.
Fine!

I hand him the print out and he looks at it and in a little boy voice..I'll never get my house boat.

A few moments later he comes in the kitchen and says Well now I have a house boat (referring to the paper).
I bet it has a huge hole in the floor on the inside and that is why it was free.
He looks at me and shakes his head..Well dah Edith, of course it does! How else are you going to fish and watch tv on a rainy day!
LMAO!!

Dude you need to go to bed before my belly bursts!

Working Outside and with Whiskers is Dangerous

Well...my plans for this weekend didn't quite go as planned.

My list was:
Mow the yard
Weed eat all around

Paint the shed
Paint hubbies work table

Pull weeds in flower bed
Add fresh soil to flower bed
Get my new plants in the ground
Redo the mulch

Well lets start this with Friday night. I had bought the cats some flea collars. I had never put collars on these cats and knew it was going to be a challenge. I got the first one ready to just slip over the head, so I could quickly get them on. I coax Peach to me and perfectly maneuvered it on, she didn't seen to mind at all. I am very pleased and now more relaxed to do it to Whiskers. I did the same coaxing with Whiskers, but the end result was much different. I held him and started to slip it on and in a flash and a claw, he was gone. Collar still in my hand. I tried coaxing, chasing and cornering. I guess in the chasing part is when "it" happened. It..being, hurt my knee. Bending slightly hurts, walking really hurts.

Saturday..My knee still hurts but not enough to keep me from trying to get my list done. I started with the mowing and halfway through while turning the mower in the opposite direction, I cut my wrist on the fence. So, I had to stop and deal with that.

(Sorry for the blurry pic, it looks like it would if viewing through tears)

The temp was 80 and I was getting hot and super thirsty. I kept having to stop for a rest with shade and plenty of water.

After hours of mowing and resting, I then moved on to pulling weeds/grass (not really sure what it is, just know its not supposed to be there). Those weeds were so thick and deeply rooted. Hercules wouldn't have gotten much farther than I did. I managed to get about 6ft x 6in of area cleared (the bed is 14ft x 3ft). One patch that I was tugging on (with all my body weight) slipped through my hands and made me fall on my arse. I took a break. I went back an hour later and got a tiny bit more done, but then suddenly I felt a burning pain run across my ribs. I think I pulled a muscle instead of the weed.

That was IT, I was done in for the day. Way to many owies for me to handle.

Sunday...Knee still hurts, fence cut looks infected, tooshie tender, rib muscle hurting like crazy and all other muscles are screaming "NO MORE". I took it easy till noon.
I then took the easiest chore..painting the shed and work table.

(The before pic with one side painted)

Instead of taking me about two hours, it took four!

(hubbies work table painted, the unpainted version was 10 kind of ways awful)

Thankfully I didn't add any more injuries to the list, TODAY (there is always tomorrow). I did get some green paint in my hair and shampoo isn't taking it out, I guess I'm covered for St. Patty's Day! LOL!

I am debating on just slapping my plants into larger pots for now,

(No name)

(I forget the name)

(Lantana, purple flowers)

(Various new victims)

(The mums sitting next to the new steps I did)

I don't think I can fight with those weeds just now (they would surely win).

Must drag my aching body to bed now.

Stuff Around the House

I have decided to show you some stuff around the house. I don't know if I will keep this on a Tuesday or not. I wish I could be as predictable as our other blogging buddies, but I don't know if my memory can be relied on to that extent. I guess it all depends on whether yall like the idea.

Here is a pic of the coffee cups I have sitting on my kitchen window sill...

Now that I look at the pic myself, I notice I really need to wash the window inside and out. What is that large drop on the outside? Paint!

Those coffee cups, I picked up in a flea market in Shreveport, Louisiana. They intrigued me from the first look. They are handmade, they are all different in sizes, shape, handles and color but they are all made by the same person. Someone with the initials WS or SW. Hard to say which was carved first..

Don't know whats up with that 2!

I like the earthiness of them. I also like the fact that someone went through the loving effort to make them. Sometimes I wonder..Was it a class project or someones hobby? Was they done on purpose to be different or was each one done separately as someone fine tuned their craft? Those cups have a story, I just haven't figured it out yet and probably never will.

The other object in that first pic, is a bottle that my brother did for me. He did that about 13 years ago when he was about 15. I'm racking my brain for those numbers, just so you know they might be off a little.

It is masking tape made to look old and glue brushed on with a cute pic of an Elephant playing in a tub. I was really into Elephants for a very long time and so that was very thoughtful and crafty of him. I love that piece so much it has been on display ever since I got it and even had to have him repair it last year.

So there you have it, a peek at my window display. Those coffee cups are usually spread out along the sill, but I scrunched them up yesterday for fear Whiskers the cat would knock one down. He kept jumping up on the sill to look out at the birds, made me real nervous!
