Randomness of our Weekend

Well technically we are still in our weekend, hubby doesn't go back to work till tomorrow. It has been great having him around to chat with and laugh with and slave for me!

I am such a mean slave driver. I mentioned that it had been a long time since he had done dishes. He asks..Oh yeah, how long? I give him my best bugged eyed glare and tell him...A super duper looooong time! (with the flare of "So there") He washed dishes twice in one day, so I guess I've gotten my glares worth out of him.

We have been having an issue with the neighbors dog jumping the fence. He is on a chain and occasionally he gets it caught and nearly kills himself in his stupidity.

On his side, as he should be.

Climbing the fence as naughty dogs do.

Hi new mommy! NOT, you are going right back mister!

We played this merry-go-round for many many days. Hubby spent Saturday morning fixing the fence.

The fireworks started next door Saturday evening till 1am and again Sunday evening.

This little vibrating baby girl was on my feet every time I stopped moving. I was followed everywhere except outside. When I did come in from outside, she could be found wrapped around the back of hubbies neck. She was scared so bad, she had to be forced to go outside to do her business.

I was in and out of the house all weekend. I went for walks and took lots of photos. I think hubby was getting tired of the revolving door, but seriously it was soo hot that I couldn't stay out very long without coming back drenched.

Just a few to tease ya with!

Saturday morning I asked hubby when was the race. Yes I'm talking about NASCAR!
Hubby replies..tomorrow at noon I think.
Later that afternoon I asked him to pull up the menu and see what is coming on TNT that evening.
Well, well, well! Would ya look at that! NASCAR is coming on tonight! Aren't ya glad I bugged you?!!
Seriously folks that was one heck of a race! I'm so glad I had concerns about his theory of them racing on a holiday or we would have missed it! IT WAS AWESOME!!!

After going to town for our weekly shopping, we watched "Greatest American Hero" all day!

Not recommended for the folks who like more sophisticated television.

That's about all folks!
How was your weekend?

Spring Fever

Spring Fever hit me today.

I was going through some of yalls posts and kept running across the word spring.

I hadn't planned on getting any new plants this year, cause of the super high temps we had last year. My Golden Forsythia doesn't appear to have weathered well and my Mexican Heather is sprouting very little so far. The only plant that is thriving is the mums I bought last November and the no name (clover shaped leaves with little pink flowers that grow on their own stems and eventually get long enough to lay over the top of the leaves) plant that I have had for years.

I had to go to the grocery store and on my way I stopped at the hardware store, big mistake! I was there only to get paint for the shed. I ended up browsing around in the gardening section and before I knew it I had picked up some dill, pansies, lantana and more..

Now these poor plants were probably screaming not to be bought by me. I'm sure they can spot a black thumb a mile away. I am getting better at trying to get Texas hardy plants and plants that once established in the ground can survive on their own, instead of just getting what looks pretty. I do try to be a good gardener, but my knowledge is very little, I read the instructions on the little plastic things and do my best. Trial and error. I do feel for the plants that have come across my path in the past (there were plenty) and suffered my neglect. I really shouldn't be allowed in any gardening sections of any stores, but I do keep trying.

So..I will be spending all of Saturday and Sunday outside planting, painting and mowing.

Hubby and his Backstrap

OMGoodness, I have been reading posts for three hours and still have nine posts to go! Take one day off from the computer and it takes two days to get caught back up. By tomorrow afternoon that number will be up around fifteen. If I didn't get to your post today, I hope to by tomorrow!

This weekend has been a very lazy weekend. Just a lot of hanging out with hubby.

Animal activist, don't read!

Hubby got some backstrap from a friend, about a week ago. I will NOT touch the stuff! If you are wondering what backstrap is..first it is deer..

Then it is the meat down the back of a deer.

Totally gross in my opinion! Bambi!

Anyway, so this backstrap has been in the freezer for a week, to my hubby that is way too long. He really loves the stuff!

This is how much...
He is driving his big rig down the road in a slightly foggy dark morning. A buck runs out onto the road and hubby (not wanting to damage his trucks front grill) swerves to miss it, but his back trailer tires hit it anyways. Hubby gets out to check the damage, but really he got out to slaughter the dead deer. He had a electric cooler in his truck, for all of his Big Reds. Those got dumped all over the floor of his truck, deer meat was way more important! In his rush of cutting just the backstrap, he stabbed his leg! I think the salivating over what he was going to have for dinner, kept him from noticing his own blood and pain.

Then he had the nerve to bring it home and put it in MY sink. He was so excited and told me to look without telling me what I would be looking at. I will tell you my reaction was NOT what he was expecting! LOL! Yes, I can laugh about it, NOW!

Ever since that day, I haven't looked or touched raw Venison (deer meat). When he is preparing it and cooking it, I am in a different room for the entire time. I have tried it twice and each time it was gross.

Every time I make chili, he says "The only thing this chili is missing is some backstrap" or "You know what would really be great with this chili?"

So Saturday he asks...Do we have the makings for chili? Amazingly we did.

He cooked his backstrap and I made the chili. My only restriction was that he couldn't put the meat in the pot of chili, until I got my bowl!
He was sweet and didn't contaminate the whole pot.
His package had 20 pieces in it and he has 3 left, less than 24 hrs later!

Hubby says (while stuffing his face) I am soo glad you don't like backstrap, cause there wasn't enough for me to share anyways! LOL!

Lucky me!
