Visit with BF

So hubby did after all take me to visit with BF, BUT I did not get a new window unit in my bedroom and now I will have to wait till next weekend.
I love visiting with BF. Not that we do anything special, we just sit around and talk. It just feels nice to be able to talk to her face to face.

I am in awe of her hair.

BF says to all of yall..."Can you believe just four years ago I was bald?!"
(Chemo made her a baldy, so she hasn't cut it since!)

We don't make the prettiest pair (anymore), but we have been best friends going on 19 years!
(Both of us look stoned! Believe me we aren't, we both had our pics taken unexpectedly)

A Day in Seguin with the Parents

Yesterday, I volunteered to go and help my parents clean house. Why they can't do it themselves? Well, they are OLD! They live in an apartment complex that has annual inspections. Checking the appliances, walls, floors, carpets and ect...

Well with dad being old and clumsy and all the grand kids being there quite often, things get spilled. Dad's wheelchair leaks grease or oil and of course the weather causes dirty carpets too.

We went through things, fixed things and threw away a lot. Then we went about doing the carpets, by hand! There I was down on my hands and knees scrubbing the carpet. OMGoodness, my knees!! Thankfully my sisters helped out as much as they could.

At one point or another I had to help get Mom or Dad off the floor. Dad grunted and groaned. Mom was stuck good and it sounded like all her bones creaked and cracked in trying to get up.

We were all an awful sight!

In going to help out I got to finally get to see the latest addition to our family.

Nathan.

His brother, Randall.

His twin sisters, Maryanne and Madeline.

I am soo tired and managed to hurt myself many times! I think I might have to lay off on my yard work, at least till my knees and my ankle heal!

Spin Cycle: Blogging

What makes my blog breathe? I'm not really sure that it breathes, but it definitely helps me keep breathing, thinking, remembering and it really helps having followers who think my words and life are worth reading.

I have always lived in rural areas as an adult and I like it like that. I like being removed from the city and all its noise. Living in rural areas and not having the latest technology always available or sometimes affordable, I was forced to have a phone with no long distance. Most all calls were long distance, like to family and even some of my friends. I would go months on end (sometimes years) without talking to certain people cause of the cost.

Getting a computer changed all that! Sister J had a myspace and so that was the first place I went. I ran across the blog page and from that moment on I was hooked. I began blogging so my friends and those long distance family members could get a glimpse of my world and of me. (I also found it to be a great way to deal with my spelling issues and to get my typing skills a boost from one finger to four, plus it forced me to remember things) They were also a way to let my long lost brother (that is another post) to get to know me.

My Step daughter #1 (who I call daughter, I hate the word step) had a blogger page, that is how I was introduced to it. After myspace started changing things and became more about games and music, lots of my friends and family switched over to Facebook. I followed suit but didn't like the blogging area on facebook and so I decided to start my own blog here on blogger.

Welch Happenings was born! While exploring my new surroundings, I went to the Blog of Note and found Kathryn (From the inside out) and Nancy (f8hasit). I was looking for some bloggers I could possible relate to and who weren't over or under my head. I know that sounds bad, so here's the thing...they do sometimes go over my head, but not bad enough that I can't follow what they are saying. Like you all know..the dictionary is within arms reach and gets used A LOT! But I like that, it challenges me to learn new words and even sometimes how to spell it.

Anyway..I found and received some very dear friends just from starting with those two amazing gals.

Am I staying on topic, probably not. Another one of my issues! LOL!

I have run across a lot of folks who write because:
It is their passion in life.
They just want to be heard.
They need an outlet from their daily lives.
They want to pursue a career as a writer.
Many, many other reasons.

I write cause..I am afraid that when I am older I wont be able to remember a darn thing! Dementia runs in my family and grammie had it real bad. She couldn't hardy remember anything and now all those fabulous stories are lost forever. I don't want that to happen to me or my family. I want a chronicle (or Journal, if you will) of my life.

Having my wonderful new blogging friend enjoy my stories and daily junk, makes it even better! Love and Hugs to you all!

Getting Old Humor

I just had to share this e-mail with yall, it is hilarious!

I am OFTEN having to go to my mother's house to "fix" her televisions. She will get the t.v. off of channel 3 or something that makes it unable to get the dish working for her. Always one of those things where I hit one button, and fix it. A friend, and neighbor of my mother's, was talking with me about this. He has to do the same with his parents who live in the neighborhood. He said a friend of his, however, had the best story. He was at work, his mother called because she couldn't get her television working. He was going to try over the phone to see what she had done (believe me--that NEVER works), but he was trying. He asked her about the t.v. being on channel 3, the dish box being turned on, etc. He then asked her what she was getting when she tried to change the channels. She said "doesn't matter what button I hit, I keep getting a busy signal." She was using the portable phone to try and change the channels.
PARENTS, GOT LOVE UM.

An elderly Floridian called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car has been broken into. She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dispatcher: 'They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal and
even the accelerator!' she cried. The dispatcher said, 'Stay calm. An officer is on the way.' A few minutes later, the officer radios in 'Disregard.' He says.
'She got in the back-seat by mistake.'

Three sisters, ages 92, 94 and 96, live in a house together. One night the 96-year-old draws a bath. She puts her foot in and pauses. She yells to the other sisters,
'Was I getting in or out of the bath?' The 94-year-old yells back, 'I don't know. I'll come up and see.' She starts up the stairs and pauses 'Was I going up the stairs or down? The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, she shakes her head and says, 'I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood.' She then yells, 'I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door.'

'I CAN HEAR JUST FINE!'

Three retirees, each with a hearing loss, were playing golf one fine March day. One remarked to the other, 'Windy, isn't it?' 'No,' the second man replied, 'it's Thursday.' And the third man chimed in, 'So am I. Let's have a beer.'

A little old lady was running up and down the halls in a nursing home. As she walked, she would flip up the hem of her nightgown and say 'Supersex.' She walked up to an elderly man in a wheelchair.. Flipping her gown at him, she said, 'Supersex.' He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, 'I'll take the soup.'

Now this one is just too Precious...LOL!

Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years, they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards.

One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, 'Now don't get mad at me ... I know we've been friends for a long time, but I just can't think of your name! I've thought And thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is..

Her friend glared at her for at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, 'How soon do you need to know?'

SENIOR DRIVING

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, 'Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Interstate 77. Please be careful!' 'Heck,' said Herman, 'It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!'

DRIVING

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car - both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red, but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself 'I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went Through a red light.'

After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection and the light was red. Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous.

At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, She turned to the other woman and said, 'Mildred, did you know that we just ran
through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us both!'

Mildred turned to her and said, 'Oh, crap, am I driving?'
