Puppy Gone

Yesterday was a bitter sweet day.

The puppy that I rescued last Monday evening was such a delight for me to have around other than the constant watching and trying to anticipate his needs to go outside. It has been a really long time since I have had such a small puppy that had no clue what the great outdoors was for. I had forgotten how frustrating and tiring it was to house break a puppy.

(Toys galore and still my slippers weren't safe)

Other than that it was fun, for me. I say me cause let me tell you everybody (dogs) else was in torment over this new puppy invading their space. Chaquita and Taco snarled, growled, barked and showed their teeth to the pup. Stitch on the other hand would practically stay in bed all day just to be out of reach of him. I got great amusement (at times) and frustration out of this. To me he was being quiet ridiculous, but I truly believe he was scared of that puppy. If the puppy got even just a little to close Stitch would run for dear life or try to hide under my desk. It had its humor! Considering the puppy only wanted to have someone to play with. Well that someone turned out to be the cat Peaches, she apparently loved him and was nearly a momma figure for him. Cute, but strange.

(If only Taco had know the puppy had snuck in to snuggle while he was sound asleep)

Happily and sadly, the puppy has found a new home. I searched and searched for answers that didn't result in being taken to the local shelter. I was saddened to find out that our local shelter is NOT a no-kill shelter. All of our other alternative shelters were full to capacity, I was beginning to feel a little desperate.

Till I remembered this organization that I follow on Facebook "Save San Antonio Pets". I took the chance and contacted them, hoping for some new leads to follow.

I know most of you were thinking I was going to or should have kept him, unfortunately that wasn't an option. I can only do what I can to find these drop-offs a decent home or hand them over to the folks that foster till adoption.

Well, after reading my post and corresponding with me through emails, the lady who runs the organization came and picked up the puppy. I was/am sad to have had to give this one up. He was by far the best puppy I have ever worked with.

(He was so good with the camera)

I will miss him and wish him the best in all a good family can offer.

A little trip to the Hill Country

Soo...I made it through the little bug that crept into my blood stream for two days. Thursday I started off with a scratchy throat and coughing. By that evening I was starting to lose my voice and a fever snuck in and turned my brain to mush.

You were then all subjected to my goofy delirious post, for that there will never be enough sorries to cover it. I should know better than to get on the computer when my head feels like it is floating in the heavens, but when the delirium sets in all control is lost. The computer should have a breathe alizer or finger prick to block delirious posts! LOL! Warning: Virus detected! User blocked!

Just to let you know I am feeling much better now, still have the scratchy throat but thank goodness the head cleared up when the fever went away.

Anywhoo..
Yesterday afternoon I laid down to take a nap and hubby came home early, woke me up and asked if I wanted to go.
Huh, what? Go where and why? (while grabbing for some coffee)
Go with me to get some wood.
Ohhh, you want me to get out in the hot sunshine and work my butt off. Okay I'm game! Just let me get some coffee.

Off we go, to where I don't know.
We headed up to the lower portion of the hill country. Went past some of the most gorgeous houses I have ever seen. Totally not in the right kind of neighborhood for me to feel comfortable. I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb in these types of neighborhoods with their fancy houses and manicured lawns. Thankfully we went past that and moved on up into the wooded area still under development.

The job site hubby has been delivering to, has trees stacked up along side the gravel road still under construction. The contractor of the job gave hubby permission to cut and haul away all the wood he can get. Since getting free wood wasn't something hubby could pass up, there we were working our butts off in the hot Texas sun.

We took a break and I went exploring and found this hole in the ground. It was awesome! If you look closely enough you will see a fuzz all around the rim. That is a jillion billion Daddy Long Legs! I have never seen so many in all my life!

There were rocks like this one all over the place. I begged and pleaded to take a few home with us, but alas hubby wouldn't budge. Besides the ones I really wanted, you would need a crane for! LOL! I was in rock heaven and couldn't take a single one. Heartbreaking!!

There was also cactus everywhere too!

Seriously folks, I could live in that area very happily! It was just so beautiful!
If it hadn't had been for my persistent cough, I think we could have stayed out there all day. Unfortunately it was only two hours, but it was the best two hours I have had all week!

Pet Names

Sick and thinking weird and useless things. It might be the fever or just that I have finally jumped ship and landed in crazyville. Who knows, hard to tell since I know I am already nuts. Not really a huge jump to total insanity. Hahaha!

So sitting here (well actually in the livingroom)and thinking about the various pet names I have used in my lifetime. Don't ask me how this topic came to be in my head, but voila there is was and I followed through with it by writing them all down. Okay well I didn't put in the ones that weren't beloved long term pets, there were at least two handfuls of those.

Some of these names are very common, but then there are a few that I think are like "what were you thinking".

Oh yeah, I remember now...
I was sitting there wondering if any of my bloggy friends ever had pets with the same names.
So tell me or tell me to go to bed with a box of tissues.
I love you all and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Muffin top to Skinny Jeans

weightloss

I came across this little meme over at Purplume's Blog and then was lead over to Family of Shorts the creator of this meme. It is all about the journey of trying to shed the muffin top for some skinny jeans. Now skinny jeans aren't really my goal, but getting rid of the muffin top would truly be welcomed.
From what I can tell this is not a weight loss program but more a support group for the journey.
Shortmama gives out a subject to write about or fun thing to participate in.
This week she gave a link to a cool site to create a collage of clothes. I had fun doing it. www.polyvore.com the registration is free.

The topic this week is: we talk about and show how we would dress differently if we were not overweight.

I thought this was interesting cause I have noticed that my weight does affect my style..ALOT. It is all about comfort on this body! I can't even remember the last time I struggled into a pair of pantyhose or the last time I worn dress shoes. A dress...well lets just say, those are reserved for weddings and funerals and are instantly peeled off ASAP! It is a body issue just as much as a comfort issue. When you have thunder thighs, problems occur and that leads to major discomfort (especially in the Texas heat). There is also the tomboy factor. A clutsy tomboy who looks like she should be on horseback, has no business in a dress nor dress shoes.

BUT oh how I wish I could dress like this and be comfortable enough in my own skin to think that I could pull it off.

My Dream ClosetFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore
Now if you put the long shorts with the floral top, that is about as dressed up as I get now-a-days. I am mostly a jeans, capri's and t-shirt kinda girl.

But a girl can dream of the perfect wardrobe, can't she? You know it is funny, but I think that even dreams can be waaaay out there, cause I am not truly convinced that if I had the bod for those dresses, that I would actually wear them. It's not like I live the lifestyle for such clothing. Some dreams are nice to have even if your not sure they are very practical.

I do parade around in the "House" in similar clothes as the gray top and jean capri's, try NOT to picture it. So sorry for the brain injury!

I think that concludes the embarrassing truth.
BUT look at those clothes, aren't they dreamy!
Try out that website, it truly was fun to create the collage.

Abandoned Puppy

I was out walking in the yard with my camera. I heard a strange noise coming from the honeysuckle vine that is nearly a bush and practically climbed in it to see what the heck it was. It sounded like a puppy but I just couldn't be sure. I leave the yard and duck under the branches and sure enough, it is a puppy in the neighbor's yard.

The neighbor asks if it is mine. It is not his either. He was just coming to look at it, cause his kids had just spotted it in the yard. Apparently someone had just dropped it off. I was instantly mad! One of these days I'm going to catch someone dumping a dog and there gonna wish they had never thought about it.

So I brought him home and promptly gave him a bath right there in the yard. Poor thing was covered in fleas. Clean and wet and I'm sure scared out of his mind, I set him down in front of the food bowl. He ate and ate, I eventually had to take the bowl away from him.

Still slightly wet I wrapped him up and settled him down in Stitch's little bed. (Yes, Stitch is very mad) He slept for what seemed like forever. He got up, ate some more and diddled on the floor. Clearly he has had no training at his tender young age. He appears to be only 6-8 weeks old.

After a smell, a NO -plus finger wag and a brief trip outside, he was sound asleep again. I tried calling a foster parent of our local humane society, but she is full to capacity.

While laying in the basket, he started to chew on the sides of it.

This lead to me searching through the toys to find something that no-one plays with and meets the needs of puppy teeth. Thank goodness there was one.

After a successful rush out the door and a glorious treat for doing so, it was time to attack the new toy and wear himself out into a long nap.

Temporarily his name is "Bucket" for sooooo many reasons. The biggest reason is that he is a "Turd" Bucket!
