Randomness

I was going through one of my favorite websites and ran across the little tiny town of Abbott, Texas. It is just a little below Hillsboro, Texas, which is about an hour south of Dallas.

It was always a small town, but at its peak it had about 700 people. At the onset off WWII it diminished down to about 250 and has continued to maintain that number.

Here's what had hubby and I rolling in laughter:

It is against the law in Texas to mention Abbott without declaring that Willie Nelson is from Abbott.

Makes ya wonder who came up with that law! LOL!

There ya have it, I broke no laws. Love ya Willie!

I then went to the next town on the list Abernathy, Texas. No pics and not much of a story. I decided to google it for some pics. I ran across this pic:

I clicked it and it took me to another blogger. I read a few of her posts and really liked them. Just everyday stuff in the life of an older woman. I left a few comments.

It just amazes me how one thing can lead to another and so on and so on...

The next day I open my emails and to my amazement Dee had written me a lenghty page. Telling me a little about herself and her blog.

I knew it from the first post I read, that she was a great lady and I was going to enjoy reading her. Her email confirmed it!

It just amazes me that I now have another blogger friend out of looking for pics!

I was not able to get High speed Internet. The fellas come out yesterday morning and played around with their antenna on a pole out in the driveway. Sadly there was no connection to the tower. Apparently, if I move my house about a mile and a half down the road, I would be all set up.

I vow that if I ever move again, it had better be in a high speed zone. I love living in the sticks, but it is preventing progress!

Yall's comments on yesterday's post cracked me up! Several sounded out that I could get a steak for myself. If you only knew how funny hubby found that to be.
Here's the thing...I don't do red meat! It is very rare for me to eat red meat and when I do...it had better be extra well done, no blood, pinkness or fat! More like jerky!.

I also got a comment yesterday from one of my brothers. I'm going to take a leap and guess that it was brother D. Since brother J has my posts read to him by sister J and brother I doesn't read me at all.

Well brother D, I am glad you finally got to comment! He has been having trouble with my page as it seems so do others. He tried to comment on the post I did about him, but his dial-up is just as bad as mine.

I would gladly give you the steak that I won't eat! LOL!

Very cool you finding a new bloggy friend by clicking on a photo! And your family reads your blog? Neat. My family doesn't even know what a blog is (except my kids of course). Love that law, Willie.

My maiden name is Abbott. Struck me funny when you said their was an Abbott, Tx. Is it just that you don't like beef or that you are a sort of vegetarian ?. By the way thanks for the input yesterday. I was not trying to pry, just didn't think anyone else had similar things in their life as I do.

I love that photo with the old blue truck. The colors and the house in the back are just wonderful!

I love that painting. And yes, isn't it serendipitous the way things turn out?!

Sorry about your high speed! We are very lucky to have DSL through our rural phone company!

That's a bummer about the dsl. I don't do red meat either and my husband is a dyed-in-the-wool steak man. Every once n a while I will cook one for him but then the house stinks to high heaven. I won't cook a steak unless I check before hand that I have tons of room spray...

I love the way we get to meet and know each other on this wonderful thing called the web.

It's been one of the nicest things I've ever had happen to m.

Oh crud! (about DSL) Well, maybe something better will come out soon.

Funny about Willie and Abbott! And I really love the connections you are making. It is so wonderful to reach out.

Sas...Yeah that was priceless!

Maureen...yeah a few of my family do read me, the rest either forget about me or don't have the time or the computer skills.

Suzicate...I was bummed, but since I have never seen high speed I still don't know what I'm missing. LOL!

Lucy...That is very neat! I'll email ya about the red meat. Your Welcome!

Erin...I know the colors alone caught my eye! You should check out the link, he has some great paintings.

Spot...I love finding new people that I can get comfortable right off!

Grace...I totally agree, there is just something about cooking red meat that makes me nauseous.

Dorothy...I think it was the best to happen to me too. Hubby disagrees!

Angelia...Yeah big bummer. If high speed can be down the road, then maybe I just need to be patient.

Thanks! I thought it suited me.
