My December...Days 1 and 2

Apparently I need to relearn how to blog! It has been soo long since I even thought about just blogging for the heck of it, I don't even know where to begin.

I ran across this photo challenge and thought it would be fun to try to write a post about each day using the prompts listed , hoping it will get me back into the swing of things.

Soo since I missed the first day and nearly catching the tail end of the second day, I will do both.

On the 1st... My view was really awesome! Hubby was outside racing the lawnmower all over the yard, he misses Nascar already! I can already tell it is going to be a long wait till February for the racing to start again, BUT in the meantime I will have freshly mowed leaves and dead grass! LOL!

I also just love to see all the red and yellow leaves all over the back yard. We have trees all over the place and the one in my back yard is the only one to turn such lovely colors. I have no clue what kind of tree it is.

On the 2nd... I would have to say my ultimate most favorite holiday movie is "It's A Wonderful Life". I can watch that movie every year and every year it still makes me cry. Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Berrymore's performance in that movie was just nothing short than spectacular. As most of you know hubby and I watch alot of old movies and we have seen lots of performances from all these actors but this movie still ranks pretty high on our list of great ones.

But speaking of movies... We watched the 1949 version of "Little Women" with June Allyson and Elizabeth Taylor this evening and hubby stayed up till it was over. I was silently laughing to myself at the thought that "this" movie had his attention and wouldn't let him sleep! LOL! I have seen this man sleep through horror and action movies and even scientific and history documentaries (all his favorites btw), but yet this "chic flick" "date night" movie has him up. Yeah I was dying to laugh out loud!

Memorial day weekend

Saturday I spent the morning and the evening with the hubby watching some really great old war movies on the tv. I absolutely adore Van Johnson and he was a huge star of the b&w era, so manage to get my fix of him almost all day. During the afternoon I spent a few hours with my bf. I had a pretty good pile of things to take to her and we had some crocheting to share with each other. It was a good visit and we sat and watched History Detectives together (very interesting episode), it had been so long since we had the chance to just sit in each others presence. I do dislike that we now live so far away.

Sunday the hubby and I lazied around almost all day. I cooked twice and crocheted till my tush went numb. Then we took a nap. After the nap I was full of energy and the sun was setting, the temps outside had finally dropped down into the 80's. I decided it was a great time to get the mowing done. Watching the beautiful sunset across the sky made me long for my camera but I knew I had to finish the mowing before I lost all sunlight. Kinda a bummer to have missed the opportunity but at least the mowing got done. BUT before the mowing was finished, the hubby decided to come outside (first time since friday evening) just to aggravate me about my mowing technique...grrr. I was pretty peeved. I was very close to saying something ugly but thankfully refrained.
Meanwhile while mowing the race was on. There was about 77 more laps left to the race and Earnhardt was in 3rd by time I came in. Okay NOW this is a race to watch! I decided to sit and watch it while giving myself a foot soak. There I was sitting in my chair with my feet stuck in water and suddenly Earnhardt was in the lead. I was slapping my knee begging and pleading for him to go go go, while my whole body wanted to be jumping up and down but couldn't cause my feet were stuck in water!. It was torture! Only to watch his car slow down, he ran out of gas on the 4th corner just yards away from the checkered flag. OMG it was so disappointing but yet it was a thrilling race.

Tomorrow I plan to finish the yard, go to the grocery store, do some laundry and hopefully finish the throw I have been working on. Just a plain old regular day.

Yeah we really know how to party, huh?

Weekend with Hubby

Saturday I went to the flea market. I was really in the need for a personal shopping trip, even though it wasn't an extravagant trip (15$), it was alot of fun just browsing around for a little while. Then I went grocery shopping, which is always an exhausting ordeal. The store was packed with last minute shoppers for Halloween, I was just doing my weekly shopping. I came home content and tired. I saw hubby was already home and I was thinking I was finally going to get some help with carrying the groceries in. NOT! (normally he would)

This is the reason why:

Here is his story (after some henning from me about bring things home, but this time I was kidding cause this work bench he really needed):

He saw this man on the side of the road selling alot of things but mostly he saw that bench. On his way home he stopped to look it over. He asked the man how much. The man said he wants a 100, but he would let it go for 85. Hubby lets him know he only has 65, so if he was still around next weekend he would give him 80 for it. The man mulls it over and says he would hate to have to come back next weekend, so he will take that 65. Hubby spent all of his saved up pocket money, but personally I think he made a good deal. Anyway he was piddling with his new toy that came with a vise and a bench grinder with a light. Very happy hubby! BUT he had to work really hard to get the shed cleared out to put it in there. Soo he was happy, but tired.
~
~
Saturday night we watched Scared Shreikless, yeah it was funny! Loved it when gingy was telling his story! I tried to stay up to watch Gremlins, but couldn't stay awake. I thought I was going to take a short hour nap, it turned into 5 hours! I know, I was just as surprised! I stayed up for 5 hours and then slept even four hours more. NINE hours of sleep! Blows my mind!
~
~
Sunday morning I had soo much energy, must have been from all that sleep. I attacked the kitchen and started moving things and cleaning behind and under and a little reorganizing. Plus putting a roast on.

Hubby the channel flipper, was bouncing between the race and old scary movies. You know..Boris Karloff and Vincent Price, then suddenly it's Brian Vickers and Clint Boyer. I let him do his thing, well cause...both were good choices and I was watching both with him.

Suddenly out of nowhere (most likely brought on by a commercial) I say this:
Me: Soo, you think we will get any trick or treaters?

Hubby: Me!! (with his hand out)

Me: You’ll have to get dressed up in order to get any candy.

Hubby: What I’m not scary enough right now?!

Me: I‘m laughing and decide to share this with yall and as I walk by he says

Hubby: “Hey”

Me: Yeah

Hubby: “BOO!!!”
~
~
Hubby later out of the blue says:

Trick or treat?

I get up and go in to look at him.

I say (Stupidly)..TRICK.

Hubby: Ohhhhh, you are sooo in for it now! Your gonna wish you had given me a treat!

I laugh and come back to the computer.

About 20 minutes later, while sitting here all engrossed in what I am researching...

BOOOOOO!!!! Right in my ear, with finger jabs to my sides!

#@%&!!! Scared the "you know what" out of me!

~
~
I spent the rest of the day buying yarn on Ebay, finishing up the mess I made in the kitchen and watching Avatar with hubby (my second time, his first).
~
~
Not a single trick or treater as I knew we wouldn't. We haven't seen one of those since the late eighties!

A very nice weekend with the hubby. HAHAHAHAHA (insert evil laugh)

Hubby Humor

I had a post in mind, but seriously it started to get gloomy and way off target.
So I opted to share some of hubby’s funnies from this week.

Sitting and watching an old John Wayne movie and all is quiet between us for a good while, just enjoying the movie.

Suddenly out of the blue he proclaims that he is missing the race! Oh the horror, don’t let the boy suffer by missing a race. Then I think and say…”Hey, it’s Saturday”! He only watches the Sprint series most generally on Sundays.

He says “But it’s the Nat...Nat...Nat...daggummit!
I but in and correct his stutter…The Nationals?!
Hubby…Yeah that’s it!
I am already working towards a full blown laughing streak and hubby chimes in merrily “Shut up, my record got stuck”
That did it, I was done for! Side splitting LMAO!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was talking to my BF the other day and she commented on how long it has been since we had come over to visit. That it is a strong possibility that if she was to pass my hubby on the street she wouldn’t know it because she had done forgotten what he looks like!
When hubby came home that evening, I relayed the message to him. Hint, hint!
Hubby comes home Saturday evening and tells me that he went by there today. (No usually when he says that he is talking about driving by there, not actually stopping) He parked his truck at the end of their dead end road and walked all the way down to their driveway.
He stood outside and called her (on the phone) to come outside.
She comes to the door and he throws his arms up in the air and yells…
“There you've seen me, remember now?!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Friday, hubby informs me that he is working all weekend and will have Monday off. It does put a little kink in or schedule, but we can survive without bread for one more day.
Hubby says he told BF that we would be coming over Monday after all the chores (grocery shopping, auto zone and post office) and installing a new window unit in my bedroom (old one died 3 days ago) were done, IF there was enough time.

I got to thinking about the installing of the window unit. When hubby came through the door last night, I asked him…
Was BF laughing when you told her about the window unit?
He says “No, why?”
I start laughing.
He says "WHY? I forgot, tell me"
Laughing harder...
Cause the last time you installed a window unit into a window with no glass, it took you ALL DAY!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We will see, if I ever make it over to visit with BF! Knowing him he is going to hurt himself and be in a foul mood by time it is over. AND we wont be going anywhere after that. Who knows he might surprise me! Naw, just won't do the window unit, it took him two years to getting around to putting the last one in at the old house!
Randomness of our Weekend
Well technically we are still in our weekend, hubby doesn't go back to work till tomorrow. It has been great having him around to chat with and laugh with and slave for me!
I am such a mean slave driver. I mentioned that it had been a long time since he had done dishes. He asks..Oh yeah, how long? I give him my best bugged eyed glare and tell him...A super duper looooong time! (with the flare of "So there") He washed dishes twice in one day, so I guess I've gotten my glares worth out of him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have been having an issue with the neighbors dog jumping the fence. He is on a chain and occasionally he gets it caught and nearly kills himself in his stupidity.

On his side, as he should be.

Climbing the fence as naughty dogs do.

Hi new mommy! NOT, you are going right back mister!

We played this merry-go-round for many many days. Hubby spent Saturday morning fixing the fence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fireworks started next door Saturday evening till 1am and again Sunday evening.
This little vibrating baby girl was on my feet every time I stopped moving. I was followed everywhere except outside. When I did come in from outside, she could be found wrapped around the back of hubbies neck. She was scared so bad, she had to be forced to go outside to do her business.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was in and out of the house all weekend. I went for walks and took lots of photos. I think hubby was getting tired of the revolving door, but seriously it was soo hot that I couldn't stay out very long without coming back drenched.

Just a few to tease ya with!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday morning I asked hubby when was the race. Yes I'm talking about NASCAR!
Hubby replies..tomorrow at noon I think.
Later that afternoon I asked him to pull up the menu and see what is coming on TNT that evening.
Well, well, well! Would ya look at that! NASCAR is coming on tonight! Aren't ya glad I bugged you?!!
Seriously folks that was one heck of a race! I'm so glad I had concerns about his theory of them racing on a holiday or we would have missed it! IT WAS AWESOME!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After going to town for our weekly shopping, we watched "Greatest American Hero" all day!

Not recommended for the folks who like more sophisticated television.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's about all folks!
How was your weekend?
Milestone and Awards
Time sure is flying by. 200th post and I haven't a clue what they were all about. Some were stupid, some were silly and then there were the occasional serious ones. I wish I could write deep, profound and meaningful posts for ya, but hey what ya see is what ya get! I'm brash, hard, silly, goofy and nuts! AND in all of that I am a big procrastinator (or maybe a FREE SPIRIT, yeah I like that better)!
My dear and precious friends have bleed their hearts and have tagged and awarded me. What do I do? I keep the pic in my little awards folder and let it sit there. I'm no good folks! I love the fact that I even cross yall's mind and yet I let you sit there and leave ya hanging. The guilt has been tormenting, but not enough to dig them out. Yes, I do need a kick in the pants! Thanks for asking.
Every time I see that awards folder, I reproached myself for not having done some of them yet. Two days ago I realized I was approaching this 200th post milestone and I had to yell at myself. No more excuse Heather, now is the time! Get'er done!
First up we have this kicking award of friendship given to me by Spot:
The rules are that I have to list 6 things I'm a master at and then pass the prize to six other bloggers. Here goes:
Master at:
1) wishing I could do this or that, go here or there, have this or that.
2) making my sister laugh so hard she gets hiccups, brother laugh so hard he can't breathe and crumbles to the floor. They find my snarky humor funny.
3) hurting myself! I can trip on nothing, fall onto things, swing my hands into things, bump my head on trees....
4) annoying my pets with the flash of my camera. Gezz, you would think they would be used to it by now!
5) Forgetfulness. I forget nearly everything. Like..stopping at the post office for stamps, doing my awards, watering my plants (the poor things) and sometimes even making hubby's lunch! But yet ask me where something is at inside my house and I know.
6) My money. I know where every dime went and if for some unknown reason I don't, dang it I will find it!! I have many accounting methods of keeping track of the money. Checkbook register, (actual real)folders for each household bill, receipt box divided into sections, Monthly bills chart created with Word Document and checking the bank website. Every penny is important in this house.
Now everyone yell "Pick Me" and hopefully I heard you!
1) Tinkerschitzel at Zommbie Mommy. She is an aspiring artist and crafter. She dapples in painting, drawing, ceramics and she even does reupholstering! She loves to go camping! She also shares stories of her little family and the joys and trials of her job in her posts.
2) Eric at Bored Neoclassical Guy. He always manages to make me laugh or learn something. He is an artist with stone, he also intrigues me with history and takes me to other countries.
3) Maureen at Islandroar. Seriously if you don't know her, where the heck have you been hiding?! She is one of the sweetest ladies ever! She will draw you into her life as a mother of grown children. She will also take you to the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard, the beauty of it, the history of it and the daily life of it.
4) Jen at Starting Over. This girl just amazes me all the time! She is an outdoorsy kinda girl. She hikes through the state parks, kayaks rapid waters, marathon bicycle rider, marathon runner, camper. Plus she has a daughter and she is doing college courses. Her adventures are amazing!
5) Kathryn at From the Inside...Out. She is just so funny, it seems like she doesn't even have to work at, it's just natural. I love going to her blog, she is sweet, funny (yeah I mentioned that already, but gawd it is soo true), witty and a mom to teen aged boys!
6) Ocean Girl at Live High. She shares her love of the Isles of Malaysia with stories of life and culture. She also shares beautiful photos of the area. I seriously am soo jealous, she lives in paradise!
Now if you are saying "But I didn't say "Pick Me"" Well let me wag my finger at you and tell you "You weren't playing the game right"
Then we have this Panda award for super comments given to me by Jimmy:
The rules for this award are to answer the following questions:
1) Why do you blog?
To have a record of things for when I go senile.
2) What was your favorite age to be and why?
Can't say I ever really had a favorite age, maybe I just haven't reached it yet.
3) What's your favorite sport to play?
Chase the dog. Is that a sport? I also like to walk.
4) What's your favorite sport to watch, and who's your favorite team?
Nascar baby!! Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip, hubby likes E.jr and Mark Martin. At least we have one in common.
5) If you could pick your perfect career (and money doesn't matter/the kids are out of the house) what would it be?
Travel the world and take lots of pics. Well that would make money matter, cause someone would have to pay my expenses for a while. Money don't matter...work at a nursery and be someones apprentice.
6) Do you ever feel guilty for blogging?
Yes and no. I don't feel guilty for blogging, but with blogging comes responsibility to your readers and I feel guilty for not keeping up my part as I should.
7) What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas! Not for the presents, I prefer a present less Christmas. I like the decorating, gathering, feasting and the music.
8) What's your favorite kind of music?
Just about anything, except for rap. I really haven't paid much attention to current music, but I do have some music that is only 8-10 years old.
9) Do you consider yourself a good driver or bad driver?
I am a good driver, never had a ticket or accident. The fence might call me a liar, but never had on with another vehicle. So don't listen to the fence!
10) What's the farthest away place you have visited?
Not really a fair question. I have been to all 48 states, Mexico and Canada.
Now for the hard part I have to pick some of you excellent commenter's to pass this one along to:
1) Mrsbear at Outmunbered Two to One. Has her hands full with the daily life of a house full of kids, but yet she always manages to make me smile or laugh.
2) Peg at Square peg in a round hole. I'm still getting to know her, but so far I have found her to be down to earth and very friendly. Hey she is Suzicate's sister, what more needs to be said!
3) Gerardine at My Walking Path. She will take you into her little family and make you feel at home. She writes about her hubby, her pets and the beautiful nature around her.
4) E.D. at Eternally Distracted. Ohhh what can I say! This girl is hilarious! She writes about her life in a country that she has to remain anonymous. She most common subjects are Mec (her other half) and Max (her cockatoo).
5) Lucy at What is left of a whole new life. She is 80 years old and blogs. To me that is amazing! I hope to be still blogging when I'm that age. Heck I hope to still be around! She writes about daily life with hubby Joe and dog Spunky.
I also did another awards show a month ago, but for some reason nobody got there awards (except for South Dakota Cowgirl). It might have something to do with the fact that I forgot to personally inform them about it. Go here to check if one of those was yours!
Nascar
Hubby was in a stooper when Nascar was over last November.
He's been talking about its return ever since, even marking of the days on his mental calender. Calulating how many more days to wait and working himself into exitement.
Today is the day, Daytona shootout is finally here. For the last 45 minutes he has been watching the Speed channel for all the talking with drivers, clips of practice and learning the new rules.
He hasn't done any of his usual remote control playing. This is flipping inbetween channels and pulling up the guide, checking to make sure he isn't missing something on another channel. Now why can't he behave like that when I'm watching something!
All of a sudden I had a lapse in brain power. I let the words escape from my lips and as soon as I did I realized my blunder.
What's on tonight?
A usual statement, not out of the ordinary.
The look on his face, was like I had totally lost it!
I busted out laughing.
He was not!
Hubby...Go play your game! Go blog! Go ault gelt delete! Whip out your history or your cookies! Better yet bring me some cookies!
I am totally LMAO!!
I got told to go blog! LOL!! That's a first.
So here I am on a saturday evening with nothing to watch, except for the occasional "come look" "Babe, come see this". Those instances was to go look at Dale Earnhardt's facial hair. Thanks I'll pass.
