Dizzy Randomness

Most of ya know already by Facebook, but just incase you don't know...

We ended up having to get us a newer car/van. It truly wasn't a popular desision in this house. We were both scared out of our minds, still am actually. This was hubby's second time going through a dealership, my first. Hubby's first was back in 77', so in a way he was a newbie at it too.

The loan asspect of it all has me frazzled more than anything ever has. I am sooooo not used to these super high numbers. Hundreds scare me, thousands freak me, tens of thousands...I am losing my mind!!! I just don't know how people do it without panicing. I know lots of folks that turn thier cars in for a newer one all the time and it doesn't seem to phase them all that much. I am a "What if" kinda girl but yet can't afford all those "what if's", which in turn throws me into an even bigger frenzy. It's a vicious cycle with no end.

I have been crunching numbers all morning and still don't feel any better. Cancel this and that, pay off this and that. If I use the money I have now to pay on this, will I be able to find this amount again in just a month. OMG!! I can't stop! I so wish I had some calm right now. Even the sweet birdie at the window ain't getting it.

Okay, hold on...let me try to refocus my thoughts. Back of the brain please, BACK OF THE BRAIN, I SAID!! Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...Did yall watch that last night? I did. Hubby was asleep within the first 30 minutes! Musicals are just not his thing.

We had a good time at my brother J and SIL J's for Christmas. Just a food get together for some of the family. Thankfully there wasn't the added pressure of gift giving, but I did get to deliver the blankets that I did for them.

Hubby gave me a new hand mixer, fry daddy, blue jeans and a sweater. I got him a shirt, new longjohns and something from the sports store. AND then there is the van. I give. The brain won't stop thinking about that car and all the stress that comes with it.

*Sigh*

I guess I better sign off now, before I drag yall through the ring around the rosie's going on up there in my mind.

1998 Grass Fire

I knew it was a good idea to have some posts in draft. Since I am sick, I am going to share one from my reserves.

The year was 1998.

I was working at the local bar (right where it says 181), the day was like any other day. Same old faces and even the same old jokes, but we were all good friends. The customer average was probably twenty on a good day. This particular day we had maybe ten.

Sirens were heard. In our location that was a rarity. Folks were going outside to see what the commotion was about. The sirens were very very close.

My hubby was rounding the corner with our old 64' Chevy pick-up, he had our Rottweilers in the back. I knew instantly at the sight of the dogs, that something was wrong. He screeches up to the doors and hopes out in a panic. He starts unhooking the dogs, in a rush.

I'm yelling over the sirens and highway noise..What's wrong?
He yells back..Fire!!
I grab the dogs and he heads back before I can press for more info.
Just as soon as he is leaving, my bf and her hubby(M) and their dogs arrive.

It was a grass fire, it had started on the corner (Laguna and the yellow line) and it was all most all the way back to our houses (the green arrow).

M took me down the back way (top right of pic) to help hubby. There was still my car, clothes, cat, pics, ect.. to get and knew he couldn't do it all.

The smoke and heat were extreme. What did I find when I got there? My hubby standing there with a garden hose! There was no reasoning with the man, I grabbed all that was necessary and left as I was told.

Back up at the bar, I was in full panic mode. Worrying my fool head off, not just for hubby, but for our house (really it was a really old trailer, but we loved it). I was in tears, shaking and mindless with fear.

It's weird what kind of things get into your brain when faced with danger. Like..if we do lose the house where will we go? Where will the animals go? How will we start over? And so on, and so on..

Thankfully, hubby realized that the wind had shifted away from the house and left the fire fighting to the real fire fighters. He finally made his appearance at the bar a good 2 hours after I had left him with his garden hose. I was soo relieved to see him alive, but then I got mad. How could he leave me for hours (in a state of panic) not knowing if the fire had got him?

Fortunately, the Fire Fighters were able to get it under control and all houses were saved. Some barns didn't make it, but they were old and empty. We were allowed to go back home six hours later.

I tell you this story, cause from time to time hubby and I will recall it with some laughter.
Every time he does something along the lines of stupid, I will say..at least that wasn't as bad as the day you tried to fight a fire with a garden hose!

See yall Monday, Have a good weekend!

Preparing for Thanksgiving

I'm really starting to feel the panic, for getting this Thanksgiving together.
Last year when we moved into this larger trailer and land, I volunteered us for this years Thanksgiving dinner. This will be only my 2nd hosting of the dinner, the first one was about 10 years ago. We lived in such a small place for so many years, there wasn't the room for everyone nor any parking.

When we moved here, I didn't think it was going to take this long to get this house into shape. I didn't even think about the fact that we would run out of repair money. There is just still soo much left to be done, I can feel the anxiety welling up in my chest. Things are just not going as planned. I planned for my house to be done and beautiful and organized, we are only halfway there.

I also wanted to be able to do all the cooking by myself. Due to the financial difficulties, I am having to have each household bring one item. I don't like it, but there it is. Organizing who's bring what and who is actually coming has been quite the challenge.

My hubby has informed my that he has invited his mother (who shouts out to the family that SHE IS NOT COOKING THIS YEAR) and siblings (with possibly their children and maybe even their grand kids). Can you feel my migraine yet? I don't even think I have a big enough turkey!

We do have a bigger yard and more parking space, but not for that many! Some are going to have to park in the street.

One big blessing is that my baby sister has said that if she gets to come she will bring an extra turkey, Thanks sis.

My other anxiety is that...once all the cooking and preparations are doubled, who's coming? That would really be nice to know! His family..they are invited but no confirmations, as of yet. My family is still in limbo also, my parents van was going to be the primary transportation for a large part of the family. Now the van has broke down and the funds to repair it are not there. GRRRR

If this keeps up, my nerves are going to bust! And how to you get a man motivated (on his day off) to help me get this house done at least a little bit more, is beyond me!

Is it too late to say Thanksgiving is cancelled? LOL
