Spot made an interesting comment on yesterday's post. I was so brain dead, I didn't even think about the fact that most of yall are buried under snow. I'm sorry!
But seriously, if you could see my yard right now, you would agree it needs to be mowed. It is weird, but I think this part of Texas is going through an identity crisis. The grass is getting tall, bushy and patchy in areas. The peach tree has already started budding and is getting ready to bloom. Looks like we won't be getting any peaches this year.
So anyway, I went outside and took pics.
The peach tree buds.
1) The grass (in spots)is taller than Chiquita. If she gets in to it, she has to bunny hop her way out.
2) The area where hubby's broke down truck was sitting. You can see the ruts it made, cause the ground is still muddy.
3) Between the house and my truck. That grass has taken over a part of my little flowerbed.
4) I don't know what is up with this patchy area. It looks ridiculous!
5) My little flower bed isn't even visible, through all that tall grass.
6) As you can see my plants have the winter look (if not the dead look), but the grass looks like an evergreen!
So there ya have it folks. My over grown, needs to be mowed and way off it's season, yard.

What part of Texas do you live in? My grandaughter lives in Fort Worth and they have had snow 2 times, and a grandson and wife that live in Lewisville, and a son who lives in Euless and a nephew that lives in Red Oak. I know that Texas is huge. When we were able to travel as soon as we got to Dallas we were lost and stayed lost till we left.
Wow. You were right. It does need to be mowed!! It's horrible your tree is budding so soon! I bet it's usually gorgeous in the spring! And peaches....yum.
Strange how the weather's been this year.

Lucy...We are 20 minutes south of San Antonio. I used to live up by Dallas, even briefly in Red Oak. Yeah they got big snow this year.
Spot...LOL! Told ya sooo! It's going to be weird to see blooms with grey skies.
We have lots of green, too and no snow yet, but it's calling for a winter storm here this weekend. I'd rather just look at pictures of the snow than actually have to deal with it.
We're in sunny south Florida, so I relate. My husband spend his birthday yesterday mowing the lawn...What? I wasn't going to do it and it certainly wasn't going to mow itself. ;)
I had that same thought about my own yard last week. "Hmmm, Looks like I forgot the mowing part of the Fall Cleanup. Oops."
But you'd never know it today.
It's now (once again) buried under 6 inches of snow.
Go figure.
Flip flops or winter boots? You just never know.
:-)
How do you know you won't be seeing any peaches? I mean, if you get a lot of blooms (flowers) you'll see fruit, right? Is it too late to fertilize the hell out of it?
I actually had a peach tree in my front yard of my old home...a little, gnarled thing...but it gave us some yummy fruit! God, I miss summer!
My yard is still green. It needs mowing. Ahhh! A-Ha, I get it now Red Oak that's why you know my area so well. A friend of mine's boyfriend lived in Red Oak. I made frequent trips there many years ago. :-)
I bet it's way warmer where you are. Very chilly here today.
